ISFRI 2027 invites researchers, clinicians, scientists, trainees, and professionals from around the world to submit their work for presentation at the 2027 Annual Congress in Los Angeles.

Call For Abstracts

ISFRI 2027 invites the submission of original scientific research, educational exhibits, case reports, and other work relevant to forensic radiology and imaging.

Submissions are welcomed from physicians, scientists, radiographers and technologists, forensic practitioners, researchers, educators, trainees, students, and other professionals working in forensic imaging and related disciplines.

Accepted abstracts will be considered for oral presentation or poster presentation during the ISFRI 2027 Annual Congress in Los Angeles, May 24–28, 2027.

Authors will select the category that best represents their submission. The Scientific Committee may reassign abstracts to another category when appropriate.

Abstract Requirements

General Requirements

  • Abstracts must be submitted in English.

  • Abstracts should describe original scientific work, educational material, technical developments, or case-based work relevant to forensic radiology and imaging.

  • The abstract title should be concise and entered in sentence case.

  • Do not include author names, institutions, or identifying information within the abstract body.

  • All listed authors must approve the submission.

  • The presenting author will be responsible for presenting the work if the abstract is accepted.

Abstract Length

  • Maximum abstract length: 400 words

  • The word limit applies to the abstract body and does not include the title, authors, affiliations, or keywords.

Scientific Research Abstracts

Scientific research submissions should use the following structure:

  • Background / Purpose

  • Methods

  • Results

  • Conclusion

Case Reports, Educational Exhibits, and Technical Submissions

These submissions may use headings appropriate to the work but should clearly describe:

  • the purpose or educational objective,

  • relevant findings or methods,

  • and the principal conclusion or teaching point.

Presentation Formats

Accepted abstracts will be assigned to either an oral presentation or poster presentation as determined by the ISFRI 2027 Scientific Committee.

Authors may indicate their preferred presentation format during submission; however, presentation preference cannot be guaranteed.

Oral Presentations

Selected abstracts will be presented during the scientific sessions of the ISFRI 2027 Annual Congress. Presentation length and audiovisual instructions will be provided with acceptance notifications.

Poster Presentations

Accepted posters will be displayed during designated poster sessions from Wednesday through Friday. Poster dimensions and presentation instructions will be provided to accepted authors.

ISFRI Trainee Awards

Dr. Patricia Flach ISFRI Prize

Trainees submitting original scientific research may request consideration for the Dr. Patricia Flach ISFRI Prize.

ISFRI Poster Prize

Trainees whose abstracts are accepted for poster presentation may be considered for the ISFRI Poster Prize. Authors should indicate their interest in award consideration during abstract submission.

Authors wishing to be considered must indicate this during abstract submission and meet the eligibility requirements established by ISFRI. Applicants may be asked to provide documentation confirming trainee status.

Award consideration is separate from the general abstract acceptance process. Eligibility for an award does not guarantee acceptance or assignment to a particular presentation format.

Review and Acceptance

Abstract Review

All submitted abstracts will undergo review by the ISFRI 2027 Scientific Committee. Abstracts will be evaluated for scientific or educational merit, relevance to forensic radiology and imaging, originality, methodology where applicable, and clarity of presentation.

Abstracts will be reviewed without author or institutional identifying information in the abstract body.

Acceptance and Presentation Assignment

Authors will be notified of abstract decisions in March 2027.

Accepted abstracts will be assigned to either an oral or poster presentation. Authors may indicate a preferred presentation format during submission; however, final presentation assignment will be determined by the Scientific Committee.

Presenter Registration

The presenting author of an accepted abstract must register for ISFRI 2027 and attend the congress in Los Angeles. A presenting-author registration deadline will be provided with acceptance notifications.

Abstracts without a registered presenting author by the required deadline may be removed from the final program.

Changes and Withdrawals

Abstract corrections or withdrawal requests should be submitted to the ISFRI 2027 Scientific Committee. Substantial changes to an abstract after the submission deadline may not be permitted.
